Going through 1/L, then 2, then D, then OD? Or whatever the pattern is on your automatic?
EDIT: I mean a non-tiptronic, like without a manual mode, just PRND2L or similar
Mine has PRND2L, and the OD Off button is separate, right below the big button used to shift in and out of P.
I'd start with the OD Off button out, in 1, then shift to 2, then to D, then get into OD

No, because "M" mode on my Steptronic must mean "Monkey", as it's like there's a small primate inside my transmission delaying all my shifts.

Oh, you have an M-mode? Cheater! :p
(I've edited the post to clarify that I mean on an auto without a tiptronic/manual mode—just PRND2L or whatever)

I use the 3 occasionally, but never go through all of them.
I have an odyssey, with the transmission shudder of death, and if I am going to be driving a steady pace below 35, shifting to 3 avoids it.

I kind of do every day. My commute takes me through a windy and hilly road. I drop my Scion TC down to 2nd and then switch up to 3rd the whole way.

Haha drat! Still, I find it best to let the auto do the work for you.

On occasion just to mess around I do.
I used to in my first truck a lot, it had 1,2,3,OD and a lot of power lol.
Montego is a little too much to control to mess around with the column shifter while driving.

I have on occasion, the Outback's layout is perfect for it (PRND321), but it's not something to make a habit of as it wears on the torque converter and shortens the life of the trans. Which is a shame because it's good for helping stave off boredom.

Only when going up steep mountain grades, and then down the other side.

Never do I ever use D, but I have button shifters on the wheel so I guess that doesn't count

2nd gen, first with sliding doors.
The wagon was nice, but it lacks other 'creature features' that help with kids

The only vehicle I drive regularly with a slushie is my work truck, and then I'm always in D when going forward except when I'm in 4WD and I'm driving a long way through rough terrain like mud or sugar sand. In that case I usually put it in 2 (it's got PRND321) to keep the revs up. It does have a "trailer mode" button on the gear shifter, however, and I turn that on when towing a trailer.
